Year 6
My time at Riverdale School has been a blast. I’ve only been here for 2½ years but those years have been the best in my life. I’ve done heaps of things at Riverdale like: Dance NZ Made, netball, Te Puawai, road patrol, Miniball, touch, drama, Tui house captain, school production and lots more. My highlights would have to be performing in the 2010 school production ‘Mayhem at the Museum’ at the Regent Theatre. I found it fun, challenging and very rewarding. I’ve enjoyed being at Riverdale heaps and I will miss it a lot! Intermediate Normal here I come!!

Snow Poem

Burger Fresh Recount

My stomach flipped as soon as I saw the first costomer. I took a deep breath

and asked her what her name and class was. I started shuffling through all

the cardsand there was her name. I carefully passed it over to her. All I could

smell was the fresh bottom bun that was right next to me. I could hear the kids

outside enjoying their market day. My mouth dropped when I saw the huge crowd

of people rushing to get their burgers. I new this was going to be a big day.

How do I think Burger Fresh went?

I think it went very smoothly and it wasn't too stressful. I

think we should do it again.

What was my job during Burger Fresh?

To find the peoples tick sheets. It was quite hard finding

the names when you were in a rush and there was a huge

line in front of you.

What have I learnt?

I've learnt that it takes time to organize stuff like

Burger Fresh and you can't just go ahead and do it

What were the challenges during Burger Fresh?

*Counting the money

*Having to make 280 envalopes and spinning tops

The Snow

Calculator Story

It was anouther normal day at schoool. We were in the middle of a maths test when I came to this really,really hard question. I kept trying to figure it out but it just didn't come to me. I looked over at Paige. Paige is one of my best friends. She has short brown silkey hair, and sparkling hazel eyes. Paige likes netball, maths and dancing. She didn't look back at me, so I decided to look down at Payton and see what she was doing. Payton is one of my best friends too and has short dark brown hair and dark eyes. Payton likes netball, touch rugby and rippa rugby. She didn't look back at me either. I looked back down at the question once more. "What is 93 + 138?" I thought. But just then I had this great idea. It was to sneak my calculator out of my pencil case, put in the answer and there would be the answer. "Surely no one would see." I thought. So I carefully unzipped my pencil case, quietly got out my calculator and put it down by my legs so no one would see it. I looked up to make sure no one was watching. The coast was clear. I carefully typed in the question. 93 + 138 =. And suddenly "BBAANNGG!!!"...................

The calculator made this huge noise. "I wonder if anyone else herd the noise?" I thought. I had a little look around. But no, every one was still doing their maths test. "I must of just imaginied it" I thought. But then I felt something growing in my hand. So I looked down to see what it was. I couldn"t believe my eyes. The calculator was growing! It was getting bigger and bigger and BIGGGER. I tried stopping it. I tried pressing all the buttons but it didn't work. But just then I thought that if I pressed 93 + 138 again it might reverse everything. "But then it might start growing even faster." I thought to myself. But I just had to take the risk. So I started to type it in praying that it would work. "93 +138 =" I typed it in. Then it stopped growing and started to shrink back to its normal size. "Hurray, Hurray! It worked!!" I said to myself. I slipped the calculator back in my pencil case and carried on with the test. But the bad thing was that I didn't get the answer to my question, never mind. "Now that wasn't a normal day at school." I giggled to myself.

How to fly a kite!

W.A.L.T~ Use short and long sentences

~Using a variety of conjunctions.

A kite is an object that can fly. It comes in all shapes and sizes. It has a string attached

to them that you need to hold while flying it. A kite will need air to fly in. But it can't be

too windy because then you won't be able to control it. Unroll the string as long as you

want and make sure youare in an open space were the kite won't get stuck in any tree's.

Then run with the kite. After all the basics your kite should be flying smoothly in the air.

Term 2 Goals

Moment In Time.

As Mr Bron yelled out at the class it was a race my heart almost dropped
to the ground. I gazed up at the bright blue sky then as I glanced down at
my feet I felt butterfly's s starting to flutter around in my stomach. as I
peered up I heard "Ready. Set. Go!!!" I sprinted up to the first obstical,
as I came up to the second obstical I gave my partner a little nudge then
pounced of it onto the third. As I finished I waved my hands up in the
air. I'd done it!!!!!!!

Camp Reflection!

My best Activitie on camp was........
The rocky shore exploration because there was all of these amazing
sea creatures there that I hadn't seen before.It was a real challenge
for me because I wasn't quit sure what was under the rock when I
picked it up.I felt really amazed.

My best game I played was......
Dimond smugglers because it is a really cool game and you need to be
as sneaky as you can! It was a real challenge for me because I had to be
as sneaky as I could and smuggle as much dimonds as I could. I learnt
that you can tell if they don't have a dimond if they smuggle it right in
front of the police.

The hardest challenge for me was..........
climbing up Castle rock because I don't like hights that much and I had
really sore legs. I was freaked out and tierd.

My biggest risk was........
The rock shore because the rocks were relly slippery and you could easily
slip over and hurt yourself.

My funniest/best moment.........
When the parents threw Mr McCullum into the sea after fitness. I will nver
forget that moment!
